Dog-friendly hotel on Texel: Eilandhotel Texel with Celine
Wind on the beach. A warm lounge afterwards.
In February 2026 we spent four nights with Celine at Eilandhotel Texel. Out onto the cold beach by day, then back to the lounge. This is our stay, plus what to arrange in advance.

01 / Our stay
Four nights of island air.
Arrival.
At reception Celine got a dog biscuit straight away. She took her place on top of the suitcase, next to the one with her own portrait.
Everywhere, in her bag.
Celine travelled in her bag. After a cold beach walk she lay on our lap in the lounge. The restaurant is officially dog-free, but because it was quiet she was allowed to join us at the table in her bag. It’s worth asking.
The mornings.
From the hotel terrace we looked out over the polder, frost on the grass and the sun rising behind the pollard willows.
02 / The beach
February by the sea.
Celine in the sling.
It was cold and very windy. Celine came along wrapped up in her sling while we crossed the wide beach in boots. Dog rules on Texel’s beaches vary by season and stretch; check VVV Texel before you go.

03 / Before you book
What to arrange before Texel with your dog.
- Register your dog in advance. Dogs are welcome in designated rooms; mention your dog when you book.
- Fee. Ask about any dog fee for your dates when you book.
- Restaurant and breakfast. According to the hotel, the restaurant is dog-free and your dog stays in the room during breakfast. The terrace and courtyard garden are fine.
- Bring a carrier bag. For a small dog, a bag makes it easy to move around the hotel together, and keeps her warm on a cold beach.
- Beach. Check with VVV Texel which beaches are open to dogs during your dates, and whether dogs may go off lead.
- The crossing. Dogs can travel on the TESO ferry and may walk around on board. Celine watched the water from the deck.
